Charles Burrell & Sons Ltd.

Manufacturers of what are still know as the Rolls-Royces of the traction engine era. Based in Thetford England they produced many items of agricultural equipment before closing its door for the last time on June 4th 1928, following a failed takeover.

 

 

Burrell Showman's Road Loco 2668 'Britannia'

Genuine Burrell Showman's Road Locomotive, Britannia was built in 1904 by Charles Burrell & Sons Ltd. Following many years traveling with the the fairgrounds of England, the engine entered preservation and now resides with it's current owners in Buckinghamshire, England.

 

 

John Fowler and the single cylinder A7 traction engine

Set up in the 1860's in Leeds, England, John Fowler helped to revolutionise the farming industry throughout the world, from his first steam drainage system to the last of the company's ploughing engines. This section concentrates on the A7 class of engine, used throughout England to drive thresing machines and other farm machinery.

 

 

Crosby / BR 3-tone Chime Whistle

Based on a design from US company Crosby's 3-tone chime, the whistle was fitted to LNER A4's such as 'Mallard' and 'Sir Nigel Gresley'. These whistles are perhaps the finest 3-chime whistles to have ever been produced. Some of which are now fitted to traction engines across the world.
